Celebrating Community Contributors
Developer communities thrive on collaboration, and the most successful ones feature leaders, educators, and mentors that consistently give back to the community. Today, we’d like to introduce TypeScript Champions (TSC), a new way to celebrate and support some of the most prolific contributors to TypeScript and the web development community. If you know of someone who has made outstanding contributions in your community, or made an impact on you personally, we invite you to nominate them as a TypeScript Champion.
🌐 What’s TSC All About?
TSC (not unintentionally reminiscent of tsc) recognizes a select group of outstanding community contributors who have evangelized emerging web standards and empowered web developers to write better, safer, and faster code. TSC is designed to give back to these individuals a bit of what they have given to all of us. When selected, TypeScript Champions will gain access to the following benefits, to both recognize their achievements and maximize their ability to keep on contributing.
- Reimbursement for travel and event participation, any time they’re out in the world teaching and sharing
- Sponsorship support for hosting local meetups and events
- Comprehensive training through Total TypeScript Core Volume + React bundle
- Marketing and promotional support for any of their content, events, or activities
- Public recognition as a TypeScript Champion on deno.com
- Private communication channels with other Champions and contributors to key open source projects
- And, of course, exclusive swag to show your TypeScript pride
🏆 What makes a Champion?
Do you think that you or someone you know deserves recognition as a TypeScript Champion? Here are some of the qualities that we think make someone a Champion:
- Champions are teachers. Do you have a favorite teacher, content creator, or mentor that has taught you something about TypeScript or the web platform you didn’t know was possible? That’s the sort of thing that might make them a Champion.
- Champions support others. Do you know someone who has made a conscious effort to make TypeScript skills accessible for every kind of person, and our community of web developers more diverse and inclusive? Champion material, right there.
- Champions push the envelope. Do you know someone making outsized contributions in open source, or building other tools and frameworks in userland? Those folks are Champions, too.
- Some Champions are “Internet Famous”, but many aren’t. A Champion might do any of the above in public, but not always. We’d love to hear about Champions in your local communities and in your workplace making a difference.
